The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X FQ400
By Thomas Rosquin
The ultimate car for the ultimate car enthusiast- the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution FQ400 comes out on top! Based off of the FQ300 and the FQ360, the Evo X FQ400 is the new vamped up version. The best obvious attribute to this car is its speedy ability. It’s the fastest and most powerful production version of the Lancer Evolution X to date. It gets 400 horsepower from its boasted 2.0 Liter turbocharged engine. It goes 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 170mph. The power increase from the standard 2.0 Liter turbo engine was achieved though a series of modifications including: high-low fuel injectors, high temperature turbine, a new turbocharger with low-friction bearings, strengthened thrust, and enhanced intercooler, a new exhaust system, and the remapping of the Engine Control Unit. Mitsubishi also changed the chassis, widened the track, and lowered the suspension. The FQ400 features Eibach springs, Bilstein shock absorbers, new 18 inch alloy wheels, Toyo Proxes RIR tires, and a new brake system that uses aerospace grade aluminum alloys and floating sealed discs with high performance pads. Mechanical and engine upgrades are accompanied by more aggressive styling and design. The new Evo X has a new composite front bumper with carbon fiber elements on the edges, a vented bonnet, rear wing, composite side skirts, a newly styled rear bumper, and additional lighting with High Intensity Discharge lights. Some of the standard equipment includes Bluetooth capabilities, CD tuner with a 30GB hard drive, DVD satellite navigation system, privacy glass, remote central locking, and automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers. Aside from its super cool design, jam packed accessories, and amazing speed. There is one area of concern though! The price for the Lancer Evolution X FQ400 has been set at $79,400.
