2009 Cadillac CTS-V Luxury Car in Chicago
By Thomas Rosquin
The CTS-V is an all new beast for the 2009 year. Although American Auto Manufacturers may be on their way to bankruptcy; Cadillac has really come through with the ultimate luxury car. Targeting the top of the Luxury Car Pile, Cadillac has produced a serious contender for a fraction of the price. The BMW M5 and the Mercedes E63 AMG both have 500 horsepower and cost upwards of $80k dollars! Well the CTS-V not only has more ponies under the hood but it costs $20k less! That’s some serious dough. What makes the 2009 CTS-V so unique in the luxury car realm is the powertrain. Borrowed from the new Corvette ZR-1; the CTS-V sports the same Supercharged LSA V-8 engine (detuned a bit), and a 6-Speed short throw transmission. This allows the CTS-V to rocket from 0-60 in 4 seconds. That is definitely supercar territory. We are talking Ferrari and Lamborghini here. In fact the CTS-V broke the lap record for a sedan recently at the famed Nurburgring track in Germany. The Cadillac also benefits from some super high tech. magnetic tuned suspension (also from the Corvette), and super rare Recaro racing seats. Couple this with huge Brembo brakes and you can see just how serious Cadillac is about this car. It truly is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. There is nothing to give this car away except the CTS-V badge and bulge in the hood where the supercharger lies underneath. Rolling stock consists of some 19-inch bling bling rims and super sticky Michelin tires. Now the CTS-V not only bests the Mercedes and BMW in all performance categories; it costs much less. So for your money you would be crazy to even think of anything else. The Cadillac CTS-V is a monster where performance is concerned. But now you can get the CTS-V in 3 different body styles. The first is the sedan, the second is the coupe, and the third is the wagon. The Cadillac CTS-V wagon is the perfect vehicle for the modern dad. You can not only haul a bunch of people and all their gear, but now you can also haul buns. Now that the CTS-V is the reigning luxury car king, all of the Germany car companies are hot on Cadillac's tail. The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sports a twin-turbo V-8 engine and an 8-speed transmission. This car is more refined than the CTS-V. BMW has recently released an all new M5 model that also sports a turbocharged V-8 motor. This car is the new kid on the block looking to cement itself. Finally Audi does not really have a high horsepower competitor but they do offer a very luxurious A8 sedan. The S5 sports a supercharged V-6 and slick transmission that helps it accelerate, but the CTS-V will still leave the Audi in its dust. |
